Sometimes, however, as we prepare to celebrate the miracle of Jesus’ birth, we may find ourselves consumed with too many details, and even worse, sorrows of years past.So, in this time of joyous anticipation and somber reflection, what to do about those mixed emotions? Look to the women of the Bible, especially the strong, bold, outspoken women directly connected to Jesus’ birth: Collectively they dealt with the death of a son, the death of a spouse, harassment, infertility, fear, anxiety and grief. Think of them as your spiritual grandmothers, your guides in traversing difficult ground. If we ignore their stories, we miss out on a literal host of resources — and just perhaps, a richer Advent.

ELDERS ALIVE, Tuesdays from 11 AM to 2 PM
The first day of in-person sessions of Elders Alive was this past Tuesday, August 10th. We heard about Fostering Kittens with Janet Morse, and we had music, fellowship, crafts and a lot of fun!!!!. Come with us every Tuesday from 11 to 2pm to enjoy a different subject each day.

Studies on singing reentry into our COVID world are finally coming in! I can share specifics with you if you are interested, just drop me a note. But, let’s cut to the chase… We! Can! Sing! If you are fully vaccinated, you can sing with or without a mask. If you are unvaccinated, you must continue to wear a mask, however, you are welcome to join in our Congregational Song!I am looking forward to hearing OUR voices once again! Featuring TWO options: Option A: In-Person morning program (9 – 11:30 AM) at St. Luke church 9100 Menaul Blvd., ABQ 87112 for Kindergarten through 6th graders Option B: In-Person evening program (5-8 PM) at Camino de Vida church 3907 Isleta Blvd SW, Albuquerque, NM 87105 for families of all ages – The evening program will incorporate hands-on service work on the grounds of the church, and a “Care of Creation” ecology component. The energetic Rainbow Trail Counselors will soon join hands with us to present a vibrant and faith- formative day camp program for about 15 children at St. Luke in the morning and 30 or more participants at Camino de Vida in the evenings. We are excited!We can’t do it without you, so contact us today to register your children and/or help with: crafts & craft preparations, small group Bible stories, creation station, games & recreation, Covid-safety monitoring (help make sure kids and adults are following guidelines for safe interactions) and just to be a friendly helpful presence as needed!! UPDATES ST. LUKE WORSHIP COVID GUIDELINES
– May 20, 2021 As we continue to watch changes in health recommendations by the CDC, the NMDOH, OSHA and local COVID data, the St. Luke Council in consultation with the Worship, Music and Arts committee discussed and agreed upon the following guidelines. These guidelines are designed to make in-person indoor and outdoor worship activities as safe and as inviting as possible – as more people receive the vaccination and as an increasing number of our community become immune to the virus.Masks: People who are fully vaccinated can go without masks, while those who are not fully vaccinated are askedto wear masks and practice social distancing. If people want to wear a mask or keep some physical distance between themselves and others at anyservice, for any reason, they may do so with the church’s full blessing. St.Luke members will rely on an honor system regarding those who have or have not been vaccinated.Seating: Seating arrangements should be such that it is possible for people or families to socially distance fromothers if that is what they prefer. Special cleaning is only required between Sunday 8:15 AM and 10:30 AM service if chairs and furnishingsare shared (e.g., chairs, portable altar).Communion: St. Luke will continue to use the individual pre-packaged communion sets through at least August 15th (when the summer schedule concludes) and consider continuing to offer this option when we return to pre-pandemic communion procedures. General: We will continue no contact “sharing of the peace” as we are presently practicing. Hymnals will be placed back in the pews timed with our return to the main sanctuary to worship. There will be no water in the baptismal font except for baptisms.Ushers: Will no longer record the names of people who attend worship. Will not be required to wear masks and gloves (if fully vaccinated) unless they choose to do so.Further Points of Consideration: Whether and when it is okay to sing masked or unmasked – The council voted to begin singing at the Sundayoutdoor 8:15 AM service, June 13th and refrain from singing in the indoor services throughout the summer. Whether ushers and other worship assistants should be required to continue to wear gloves and masks – The councilvoted that gloves and masks not be required. When to implement these changes?
